Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, has become increasingly popular in recent years. The procedure transfers fat from areas with excess fat, such as the abdomen or outer thighs, and injects it into areas lacking volume such as the face, breasts or buttocks. The immediate availability of the patient’s own fat, its natural integration into host tissues and its ability to achieve long-term correction makes it a highly sought-after procedure.

The process uses liposuction to get rid of fat from the upper thighs, flanks or abs. After concentrating the fat, the fat is grafted into the desired area through micro incisions. The body will reabsorb some of the fat cells over time. However, approximately 60 percent of the fat will remain. Many patients only need one round of treatment to get the results they want. But some patients choose to do several rounds.

Autologous fat transfer for soft tissue contouring has become increasingly popular in recent years. The immediate availability of the patient’s own fat, its natural integration into host tissues and its permanent correction potential makes it a highly instrumental application.
